1. Define our image triggers

I have noticed that when it comes to photography, there are certain things that motivate me to shoot.

For example, people, hand gestures, textures, pillars of light, shapes, shapes, geometry

And I discovered that one of the best ways I could advance my photography was to better identify and stick to the drivers of this image.

For example, sometimes we have a certain impulse to shoot, but censor ourselves, out of fear that we’ve already taken a similar photo before, or fear that it might be a cliché.

But truth be told, clichés are not a big deal. I think the idea of ​​cliches is just a pretentious French idea of ​​trying to put other artists down.

In other words, allow yourself to shoot cliches, and maybe photography is a good idea more clichés.  Even Daido Moriyama once said, not portraying a cliché is a cliché in and of itself.

2. Nutrition improvement

 I believe in practical philosophy regarding human physiology. In other words, how does one grow muscle mass? Simple: Increase physical exertion, which causes your body to release growth hormones, and then the ability to eat more meat and high-intensity nutrition in order to increase your muscle mass.

When it comes to photography, perhaps we can take a similar concept to practice. In order to become a better photographer, we need to focus on our nutrition. Both practical and philosophical.

For example, when photographing motivational material, to consume only the best history photos. And also, in terms of our practical health, that we become more strict with our diet, food and fluid intake.

A very simple health tip via Negativa is: quit carbs, quit sugars, quit sweeteners, and quit the idea of ​​three meals a day. Towards a more paleo and ketogenic approach, intermittent fasting with one large meal a day. Less intoxicants, such as alcohol and weeds.

3. Stronger Fitness for Photography

For us as photographers, what is the most important muscle in our body? our legs. I have a simple idea that in order to grow as a photographer, you must develop the muscles in your legs. Things I’ve been doing: Strive to walk at least 30,000 steps a day, and do heavy leg exercises with a 105lb kettlebell.

If you have the ability, go to the gym and focus on performing heavy weight lifting exercises for your legs. The deadlift for sumo, the squat. Attempts a maximum of one rep, once a week.

A little thought experiment: If you develop your leg muscles, do you want that to motivate you to move and walk more, which will lead to more shooting? And the more you shoot, the more likely you are to practice photography and improve your photography.

4. Aesthetics philosophy

Something I’ve been thinking a lot about is aesthetics. Aesthetics philosophy means what you consider beautiful and not beautiful.

As photographers, we are artists who drive our cars to shoot beautiful photos. But everyone’s definition of beauty is different, especially in photography. Because your goal is to cultivate your mistakes, and to define what you consider beautiful.

5. Stronger and simpler?

When thinking a lot about the idea of ​​what it means to create “better” images, I think that better images are simpler and more powerful. This means that the compositions are simpler, but elicit a stronger emotional or aesthetic response.

For example, the most extreme contrast between black and white, and the use of a small thumbnail test to see if your images are good or not as small compositions.

6. Optimize your photos

Think a lot about how you can improve your photos and photography. Focus on your growth and development as a photographer.

Allow yourself to cross-pollinate extensively in your photography, allow yourself to cross genres of photography, looking for inspiration and motivation all around, and treating it only as a kaizen approach:
